Youth to Adult

For almost 6,000 years there has been an association between children and adults that has been inseparable until this hour. Throughout the ages young children have known that they were younger and less understanding than their parents. They also knew that they would one day grow up to be like their parents and with this focus in their little hearts they set out to please their parents by emulating them and thus win the respect and esteem of the older folks.

 

But today we face another time altogether. In no other age has there been so much wealth and prosperity. But this is Laodicea, the age of wealth, vice and indifference, which is luke-warmness. Brother Branham told us that this age would be seven times worse than any other age since the beginning of time. He said there would be more temptations and that it would be seven times hotter than any other age before. And the sin of the people would be seven times greater than any previous age. But what do we do as believers who are parents during this time? We sit back and wonder why our children are going through the problems that they are going through.

 

Even in the animal kingdom and mother lion would never think to leave her cubs helpless while she goes off to find food to sustain them. If she has to go from their presence, she will find a place to leave them that is watched either by another adult or she will hide them in the deep brush where no harm will come to them.  But what has happened in America, the Land of prosperity? We have become so used to living high on the hog, so to speak, that we have become so accustomed to the good life that we have become dependant upon a higher income to just make ends meet. Yet what is this just making ends meet that we are trying to do. Keeping up with the Joneses?

 

Is it truly necessary to have two cars in every garage? Is is truly necessary to have three television sets per household? Is it truly necessary to war the latest fashions and designer clothing? If you think so, I would like to ask you to answer one simple question. Why? Why is it necessary to have two cars. You'll probably say, in order to go to work, to pay the bills. And I'll ask you why again. In other words, why do you have those bills? What are they. Well, I've got to pay the high insurance premium. Why is it so high? Well, we have two cars…And you see what you've created? The tail is wagging the head.

We do live in Laodicea and there is none of us that is totally isolated from it, and yet what is the net result of  a two income family. What do you really get by having both parents work. You get more things, right?  And then what happens? You've got to pay for those things. And what is the greatest pricer that you end up paying? The price is your children.  And the ultimate sacrifice for a two income family is that you develop a taste for more and more and more and you become less and less satisfied with the simple things in life. Therefore the greatest sacrifice for the opulent lifestyle has been your children.

 

Today, only one third of the black children that are conceived make it to birth. 1 in 3 children are killed off for convenience sake right from the start. Then of the remaining 1/3 that come to birth, 7 of every 10 are born out of wedlock, illegitimate. Now what chance does a young person have when mom has to go off to support them and there is no one home to raise them up. 

 

Brother Branham said you called it parent delinquency. So we have to ask ourselves, what is parent delinquency? What is a delinquent anyway?  The word delinquency according to webster means to leave undone. Then what is parent delinquency is to leave your parenting obligations and responsibilities undone, unfinished.

 

Now, what are your obligations and responsibilities as a parent?

 

#1) To feed and clothe and protect your children.

#2) To raise up your children the way you intend for them to go. You can not leave child rearing to others. The Clintons would like you to, they think it takes a village to raise a child, but all it takes is the rod of correction and a loving parent who is not selfish if  you expect your children  to be raised up correctly.

#3) You have got to see them through until they are old enough to leave the nest and be on their  own.

 

I would like to read from an article tonight to generate thought in our minds which should help us to get a grip on the reality of what is happening in this hour.

Look at the modern American home. You know where? Pop, where's he at? He's down to the barroom having a social drink with the neighbor. Where's mom at? Well, she's down at the stitch and sew party, playing cards. Where's junior at? In his hot rod, out racing on the streets, dragging with everybody with a girl wrapped in one arm and a cigarette in the other. Where's sis at? She's down at the canteen doing the rock-and-roll, out all night with a bunch of soldiers and everything she run with.  That's a modern American home. Brother, the handwriting's on the wall. That's right. Thou art weighed in the balance and found wanting.  And great men has crossed this nation. Billy Graham, Jack Schuller, Oral Roberts, and them preaching the unadulterated Gospel of the Lord Jesus. And people has laughed at them and made fun of it and turned it down flatly. And there's only one thing left; that's Divine judgment, and it's coming. And Russia's down there setting there waiting for you. 

 

E-47  THIRSTING.FOR.LIFE  DALLAS.TX  58-0611   And when our nation gets to a place... The other day I stood, and I was shocked, when my hotel room, just across from the YMCA... And they were teaching the young children in the YMCA rock-and-roll. Not only that, but they teach it in the churches. How can you expect anything else, but a teen-age rioting hoodlums like we're having today.  They call it the parents... What is the modern parent, the modern church member? I don't want to hurt you, but I'd rather scare you a little bit now than you to be lost in hell someday, and me responsible for it.  Where do you find mama? At some card party. What about dad? Down at the pool room. What about Junior? Out at a--out running his hot rod, up-and-down the road, racing. That's Sunday. Where's sister? At a rock-and-roll party. And you talk to them about God, they say, "I belong to certain, certain church. I'm as good as you are." They know no more about God than a Hottentot would know about an Egyptian knight. That's right. Only thing they know is some catechism or church creed, their name on some book, and never been born again of the Spirit of God. What we need is an old fashion God-sent Pentecostal revival. Not only do they need it in the Methodist and the Baptist church, we need it in the Pentecostal...?...

 

  7-4  DISCERNING.BODY.OF.LORD  CHATAUQUA.OH  V-2 N-25  59-0812  Sometimes I wonder if we intellectual Americans has enough discernment to discern right from wrong. Especially the juvenile courts prove that we haven't got it to discern right and wrong for our children, and they seem to have a good psychologist's answer, for instance like this: If Junior comes up to his papa, and stomps his little feet, and screams out, and shakes his head, said, "Dad, I don't care what you say, I want a hot-rod." (That's typical America.)   And the father says, "All right, Junior, I'll buy it for you."  You could say to that dad, "Why did you do it?"  "Oh, I love him."   You remember, dad; Junior is going to grow up to be a man someday, and he will marry and have a family. God help that wife that lives with a boy that's been brought up like that to have his way about everything he wants: can't discern right from wrong. That's not love; that's pure ignorance. The Bible's right. Spare the rod and you spoil your son.

 

  E-70  REJECTED.KING  CHATAUQUA.OH  60-0610   Your little old kid, say, "Now, Junior, honey don't you do that." Get you a stick and skin him. That's what you need. Look what you raised up out of that "Junior, honey." Little Martha you know will stomp her feet and tell her mammy, "You go shut up; I ain't going to do that." Oh, boy. Good thing they didn't have my daddy. That's right. Yes, sir. All this stuff, see what you got? A bunch of juvenile idiots. Just exactly what you got. Insane, just exactly. The insane asylum's filling up with them. Beatniks, that's what caused, "Junior, dear." The Bible said if you spare the rod, you spoil your son. That's exactly right.  And God knows what's truth and what's best. Samuel tried to tell Saul that. God knows what was best. But Saul said, "Well, the people want me." That--that's it. Long as he get somebody to follow him, that's all he wanted. He used Samuel's name and get somebody to follow him; that's all he wanted.

 

  36  BAPTISM.OF.THE.HOLY.SPIRIT  JEFF.IN  V-5 N-2  58-0928M   And people today, the teenagers out in high school with beer parties, and drinking, and living, and little girls living in adultery, little boys, and things like that. What kind of a generation's coming up after this? What makes these little girls act like that? Their mammy was a flapper; their grandmammy was a chorus girl. And He said He'd visit the iniquity of the parents upon the children and the children's children till the third and fourth generation. What can you expect any more?

  ...?... so amazed at the--our little teenagers this morning, the little, you know, little "Fefe," and "Fifi," the little, the--you know, sixteen... And they come in the church... You know about little girls about that age, they want to look pretty, you know. Them, you know, hair's all curled up on top their heads. I noticed them as I was preaching, just kept wilting down, wilting... And after while they was blowing it back out of their face. So the curls all came...

  And so I--I went down there, and there were ladies, young girls, teenagers, not snickering, and laughing, and popping chewing gum, talking about their boy friends, every word, they just lay onto it, and never move--just set and listened. Make an altar call--make this an altar call, and thousands raised with tears streaking out of their eyes like that, with their hands up to God, wanting mercy for their soul--young girls and boys, seventeen, eighteen years old. Now it's kinda hard to get the old folks to even listen. You see? It--it shows that we haven't got nothing to complain about. Thanks be to God. Yes, sir.   We'd like to have it all modern like the rest of America, but we haven't got it that way; so we'll just make out with what we got.

  Look at our billboards: women standing out with cigarettes in their hand, every little Jezebel in the country... Why, I went to the... The other day I seen a strange thing: there was one woman that (I come over to the school out there to get the kids, when I went over to get them)--that didn't have on a pair of shorts, and it freezing weather. Every one of them with cigarette... As soon as they get there and stop, if they didn't have a cigarette, they'd light it right quick and [Brother Branham makes a sound like blowing smoke out--Ed.] "See how I'm getting along?" Holding that hand out the door like this with a cigarette in their hand... And you say something to them, oh, they blow up. Sure.

  You say something to Ricky, or Elvis, or one of them out there, they'd shoot you. And the government would back them up, 'cause they're only teenagers. "Well, that's all right. They was--they didn't understand. They're teenagers; overlook it."  Now, you see what a true prophet means? His way?

 

  E-81  IDENTIFICATION  PHOENIX.AZ  63-0123   I'm going to speak to the kids here, the teenagers. Could you identify yourself today, teenager, as a professed believer? As the rich young ruler, the Elvis Presley type that love the pleasures of the world more than he loved to follow Christ? Would you identify yourself with this present day group that say... Well, like this Mr. Presley. As I understand, He's a Pentecostal. And a Pentecostal to get out and act like that, He's just only a Pentecostal by name. To me it's another Judas.  Pat Boone and those people who claim to be religious, and them rock-and-rolls and twists, and vulgarity of the world, and then claim Christianity, why, it's a disgrace. It's worse than the bootlegger. It's worse than--than the prostitute on the street. God would respect a prostitute better than that. Ernie Ford and them stand up all night at these shindigs and everything, and carry on with their arms around women, and them sexy, and--and everything, and then come out and sing hymns. That's when you've sold your birthright. How can you identify yourself?

Teenagers, church members taking lives, men shooting their wives and family and burning up their children... And look at the crime wave. And they're not neurotics? Then what's the matter? Watch their actions? power-crazy nations. Everyone wanting to take every--the rest to make it one flag, one nation, and that be their flag and their nation: power-crazy?   Immorality, why the world's more immoral than it ever was. Nude women on the streets, nude women, and say they're in their right mind? They can't be. They just can't be.

  We take men. Men, you catch them on the street or in their business. The old man wants to be a teenager. He'll cut his hair off on the flattop and make a--a ducktail in the back. He wants to be a teenager. The teenager wants to be like one of these rock-and-roll kings. Where do they wind up? In sin and disgrace.

  Man seems to be unsatisfied. He's running everywhere. They'll take on--listen to the radio for jokes and things that these jokesters pull. And they'll go out and try to mimic or--or act like those people.

314  Modern Events  65-1206 Young teenagers, do you want to get like this out here on the street, this bunch of hoodlums?  Sister, do you want to wear short hair, when it's your Nazarite honor to God to have long hair? "It's a shame for her to cut her hair." Would you wear these little old skirts and things that they wear today of this immoral dress, with your body showing through it out there on the street? Did you know every man that looks upon you commits adultery with you in his heart? And you present yourself like that. Do you know, women, you that wear makeup, there's only one woman in the Bible that ever wore makeup? And God fed her to the dogs. A Jezebel, a name that's been hated since her day, because of her acts of that. You know it was Elijah the prophet who cursed that and called her out in that manner? Do you know it was Herodias that John the Baptist got after? Do you... You don't want to be that Hollywood thing of the world. "If you love the world or the things of the world, the love of God's not in you."

 

  176  Thirst  65-0919  Now, what about all this carrying on they done today in the name of the church: practicing square dancing in the church, bunco, bingo parties, teenagers rock-and-roll, twists, all these stuff. Look at this Elvis Presley, a devil standing in shoes. Pat Boone, Ricky Nelson, the biggest indebtiment this nation has ever had. That's right. They say, "Oh, they're very religious; they sang Christian songs." It oughtn't to... The church oughtn't to even permit a thing like that. Some of these guys go out here, and--and tonight they're in a--a roadhouse out here, dancing and playing music and everything, and the next night they come to the altar and weep, and the next night they're playing music on the platform. Oh, goodness, gracious. How far can filth, how far could filth go anyhow? Yes, sir. Prove himself first to be a man of God, not all this stuff just because he can beat an old guitar or something.  By your desire, you can tell who's on the throne of your heart. By what you love, that's what tells. You, you say, "Well, I think them things are all right, Brother Branham." Well, just remember now; in your heart you know what's there. Yes, sir. By what is feeding your soul, what your soul is thirsting for, and you can see it satisfies that; if it isn't this Word, then there's something wrong, because the Holy Spirit lives on the Word only. See?

 

  75  Identified With Christ 59-1220E  Identify yourself with some movie queen and see where you'll be. Identify yourself with some cowboy or some teenager and see where you'll be. But I challenge you tonight; identify yourself with Jesus Christ in His death and His resurrection and see where you'll be at the resurrection. "For if we suffer with Him, we shall reign with Him." God has given us the promise. And my whole desire is to be like Him. Take me, oh Lord, and mold me, and make me, shape me over again. And like the prophet that went down to the potter's house, break me up and remold me.

 

  92  Super Sign  59-1227M  Someone, as I have said before, wants to make Him a little short God. He was man; God was using a man. God was using a flesh that He created Himself in order to create through Him and to "Bring through Him many sons," says the Scripture, "through that obedient Son. Through one son all fell; through an obedient Son all shall live that believe." God with us, a sign, said that would be a sign. Jesus so loved to refer to Himself as Son of man, man Himself, just a man, "I am nothing; the Son can do nothing in Himself." But it's the Father [Blank.spot.on.tape--Ed.] was in Him, the Immanuel, that God, the--the baby, God, Jehovah God, that little baby cried, that was Jehovah. Did you see it? God living in a baby. God living in a teenage. What type of a teenager was He? He set the example. When He was lost by His father and His mother, they looked about to find Him, and they found Him in the temple, What did He say, as a teenager? "Know you not? Wist thou not that I must be about My Father's business?" Example for teenagers.

 

E-22  INVESTMENTS  63-0126  But the rich young fellow, the teenager of his day, had probably inherited a lot of money, and--and... Which that's all right. There's nothing against that. And I'll--I'll be thankful for any man or anybody that's been given that privilege. But when the... What I have against the fellow is this: being a man of business... And did you notice, he asked for Eternal Life? That was his business proposition, "What must I do now to have Eternal Life?" And Jesus told him exactly what to do. But he wasn't interested, because of the thing that he had to do to--to have Eternal Life.

 

E-55  Lamb and the Dove 57-0325  What we need... It's not juvenile delinquency; it's parent delinquency. It's because that the parents has neglected. And a whole lot of it is the way the church never preached it. What's the matter, brethren? Get back to the Gospel; preach old-time holiness and get it into the church again. We must have a standard.

E-23  IDENTIFICATION  PHOENIX.AZ  63-0123   Now therefore, His loving character of love, oh, for us, it--it makes plain John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but would have Eternal Life." God, projecting Himself, and become man that He might have upon Him the form of His creation. In other words He changed His tent. He spread it amongst human beings. And the infant Jehovah, crying in a manger, could you imagine it? It ought to alarm the hearts of believers. And that was all done...  Could you imagine Jehovah, being a baby in a--in a manger, in  a--in a stable of manure? Could you imagine that? Could you imagine little Jehovah playing as a--as a boy? It's an example. Could you imagine Him as a teenager? Could you imagine in the carpenter's shop? And could you imagine Him in such complete obedience to God, dying on a cross to redeem His fallen creation? That's the kind of a love that God had. And He had to become that in order to die, to hold the sting of death.

Would you'd try to act like Marilyn Monroe, or some of them others, or some of the women like the first lady of the land, with these here all kind of carrying on, and this cutting the hair and--and manicuring on the face, and these tight, sexy dresses and... And you men letting them do it. And you pastors without the audacity to rebuke it from the pulpit too. That's right. That's right. Now... That's right.  Now, just a minute. Listen. That's right. But many times you've got God-given pastors that will rebuke it, and you still won't line with the Word. Well, now that's--that's it can go the other way too. Yes, sir. That's right. What am I laying before you? Oh, say, "They..." I know better than that. I've passed through, myself, Phoenix for the last fifteen years, and it still looks the same as it always did, only getting worse. So don't lay it all on to the pastor. Let's just say we're all guilty, and stand up there, and look at ourself in the glass. That's right. Teenager, what about that? Do you love the praises of them people more than you love the--the invitation you're give to mold your character into the image of the Son of God? What about it? How can we do it? Oh, my. Can you see yourself identified, popular-loving?

 

34  IN.HIS.PRESENCE  JEFF.IN  V-11 N-4  62-0909E   Now remember, if such holy men recognized themselves sinners in the Presence of God, what will the sinner and ungodly do at that day? What will people do who set in the meetings? What will the people do that seen the power of God, that's heard the countdown on the Word, that seen God manifest Himself, and (beyond a shadow of doubt) every Scripture fulfilled, and will still try to make it to heaven without being born again and receive the Holy Ghost? The Bible said, "If a righteous man be scarcely saved, where will the sinner and ungodly appear?" What kind of a place are we going to stand in if we see God unfold Hisself right before us, and see the Glory of God just the same as them men did, and that kind of men cried out, prophets and sages upon whom the Word is based upon? If they cried, and fell to their feet, and screamed, "I'm man of unholy lips, uncleanness," what will it be then for that man who won't even confess his sins? What will it be for that teenager that won't confess his or her sin? What will it be for that hardhearted man that thinks he knows more about God's creation than God does Himself? What will happen to that man that's spent all of his life trying to disprove the Bible, where will that guy appear at? Think of it.

 

E-40  WAY.TO.HAVE.FELLOWSHIP  CHICAGO.IL  55-1009  What brought on juvenile delinquency was parent delinquency, the parent failing to take care of the children.  E-75

  62  INFLUENCE  SHREVEPORT.LA  V-17 N-8  63-1130B  How can a child face a father and mother that's godly; how could a teenager look in the face of a godly old mother, with her hair turning gray, then say to this teenager, "Honey, mother has raised you different"? And you see back down through the life, what's done for mother. Don't do that, and turn arrogant and say, "Take your religion, and go, I'll do what I want to." What's the outcome of that teenager, what happens to them? It's gone. They're lost, spiritually, morally, many times physically and mentally. They are completely cut off from mercy. Well, then, that would be a horrible thing for a teenage boy or girl.  Then think about a man or a woman down in the ministry, or a Christian that calls himself a child of God, and look into the commandments of God, and turn their back, and say, "My denomination don't believe it that way."  We need influential Christians, influenced by the Word of God, called men or women for an--for an influence to the elected Church for the last days is what we need. God, give it to us. And they'll be there. They're going to be.

 

  89  INFLUENCE  63-1130B  Now the people doesn't have reverence for Him. Why isn't it people don't reverence God? Reverence was only pertains to God, spoke of twice in the entire Bible, both times pertaining to God. Notice, the reason they don't do it is because they are not fully convinced that it is God. They're not fully convinced.  Neither was Uzziah; he wasn't fully convinced that God kept every Word. Because God had blessed him, he thought, "That satisfies me. If I got a blessing from God, I can do what I want to."  You can't do it. You cannot do it. You, teenager, can't do it, no matter how much popularity you are, what a fine girl, a fine boy, nice dancer. How the school all appreciates you, you--you won your scholarship; that's all fine. There's nothing against that. That's fine, but don't think you can trample on God's Word and get by with it. Don't you ministers think you can do it and get by with it. None of us is going to do it. You housewives, or you businessmen, we're all going to answer to God by His Word. Isaiah was learning this. They're not conscious of His Presence.

 

  E-30  GOD'S.SERVANT.JOB  PHOENIX.AZ  55-0223  That's what's the matter tonight, preachers has let the congregation get by with any thing. They need a little child training. That's right. That's what's the matter with the world today, the reason they go so much in the natural, juvenile delinquency; we need some child training. I think it's a lot of parent delinquency.  My daddy, he really believed in that child training. He had a switch laying up over the door, and a razor strap hanging on the wall. We know what it meant. It's too bad we ever got away from it, isn't it? Yes.  Child training... We need preachers that'll preach the Word, tell us the truth about it, tell us we must be borned again, and bring us on the basis of the shed Blood to Jesus Christ, the Son of God, introduced all the good things that God's got for us. That's a fact, sir. There it is. That's the kind you get the vitamins from. Might be in a barn, or mission, but just so you're getting fed is the main thing.

 

E-42  HEAR.YE.HIM  CHATTANOOGA.TN  58-0301E If I understand it right, a little while ago it was a sin for you ladies to cut your hair; at least the Bible says it is. But you just ignore that anymore.  It was wrong for you to put on a garment that pertained to a man. The Bible says it is. But you just do it anyhow. You let your young girls do it. Then they get insulted by the boys on the street and you want to arrest the boys. You're the one that needs it. We'd never have juvenile delinquency till we have parent delinquency. You used to love to go to prayer meeting and pray till twelve and one and two o'clock, lay on the little, old cottage floor somewhere under the Spirit of God. You used to love to pray all night long. But since you got your television, you like to stay home and watch some old vulgar picture, "Who Seen Lucy" or "Who Loves Lucy," and stay home from prayer meeting. Something happened.

 

E-41  LIFE  BANGOR.ME  58-0519  And so when they let me off at my floor, I walked along the side. And I heard a noise up the end of the hall. And I looked and there stood two young American women with just their underneath garment on, just as drunk as they could be, both of them, perhaps, married woman, 'cause they was woman in their thirties, just with the little underneath garment on, a bottle of whiskey, coming down through that hall, and men dragging them from room to room.  Mamas, having a little innocent fun. Maybe their husbands were home baby setting, or some hired child is taking care of their children. God gave you them children to take care of them yourself, and it's your responsible to God. We don't have juvenile delinquency; it's parent delinquency. Some mothers has got away from their duty. They want to run to barrooms, and carry on, and run all night long, and leave their children grow up. No wonder they grow up in that neurotic age. God gave you that child to raise and to take care of.

 E-30  THY.LOVING.KINDNESS  CHATTANOOGA.TN  58-0228  Trying to quench that thirst that God put in you, not to hear after a scandal like Arthur Godfrey, or some of those other dirty mouth impostors... That's not real Americanism, that's hellishism (That's right.) out of the bosoms of hell. No wonder our nation's gone, such stuff as that. And it's drifting right into the Church.  The devil knowed how to keep the children from the picture show; he put it in the house with you. That's right. You know that's right. Just let them listen to any old dirty thing, all those old jokes and things that they tell. "Bring up a child in the way they should go."  No wonder we got juvenile delinquency. No, we've got parent delinquency. We've got home delinquency. Junior's out somewhere with his hot rod on Sunday; sister's down to a rock-and-roll, and mom's out to a card party, and--and dad's over to some kind of a poker game. And the church pews are setting empty because the Blood of God has vanished from the church of the living God.

  You love God with all your heart, you won't do those things. It's true.

They'll hardly take off their hat, men will in front of women, and they have no respect for them at all. What did it? The women done it theirself.  And you all talking about juvenile delinquency and things. I think it's parent delinquency. Some of you let your girls go out and run around all night with a cigarette smoking, cocktail drinking party. Come in the next morning with her clothes half off her, old make-up all over her face and that, And you call the Kentucky mothers ignorant. Write her patch down with those Dogpatch, Lil' Abner, and make fun of the Kentucky mothers. That's some of my people up in there.  Let one of them girls...?... it up there and, brother, I'll tell you, she wouldn't get out of bed for six months. She'd take a hickory limb and beat what clothes she had left on her off. And if you had something like that back in the church today, you'd have better. Amen. God give us the old time mothers. I've got two girls coming. I don't know what they'll be.

And a little old Oswald come in, hat setting on the side of his head, said, "Mammy, is dinner ready?"  She said, "Honey, we haven't had time" said, "this morning to get any dinner." Said, "I'm fixing you a sandwich," said, "there's some oranges."  He walked over and got ahold of an orange, looked at it, bit into it, throwed it up against the wall as hard as he could; the juice run down; said, "If that's all you got around this place, then I'll get out," like that.

  I thought, "O God, he ought to be mine for about five minutes." Boy, I'd jerk the hide off of him like he'd never knowed it was jerked off. But them lay there, pity and baby. What he needs is a good old fashion limb skinning. That's what we need, some old fashion homes again, and some preachers that'll stand behind the pulpit and preach the truth, and lay it down where it belongs to be led. Amen. That's true. Oh, my.

How disobedient children are being. The Bible said they would be. The Scripture said they would be. How they would act, how they would do, and the things that's going on in the world today, is because they have grieved away the Holy Spirit.

And God was bringing His people out to the promised land. Is that right? And Israel never received one plague. Just as the plagues... Before it went, they went into Goshen. Is that right? And the sun never did dim out; no mosquitoes come; no frogs was there; no lice was there; no storms was there; no lightning was there; no killing of the cattle was there; and everything they had was preserved in Goshen. Is that right? It's a type of the church going just before the tribulation period. Jesus said, "When these things begin to come to pass, lift up your head, your redemption is nigh." See?  I believe that the moon and sun and stars... And they said that... I'll go ahead and read It, said, "And man run and hid themselves in the--and fell upon their--sought to kill theirselves, and couldn't do it, and everything." I believe that takes place just before the tribulation.  Now, watch, the tribulation comes. When the tribulation strikes, the church goes up. Now, remember, just an ordinary church without the Holy Ghost goes through the tribulation period. It's only the elect that goes through.

I know Brother Head was, and we had several of you here when they had the old chart. How the Book of Revelations, how It's made up, and Daniel ties in with It. Isaiah ties in with It. And then, in there there's Seven Churches, Seven Plagues, Seven Seals, Seven Trumpets. Now, a trumpet represents war, a seal, a mystery unfolding; and a plague is what follows every war.  And by God's help, and with the book of history, I can prove to you that we're living at the Seventh Trumpet, for the Seventh Plague, and the Seventh Seal to be opened, and the Seventh Vial to be poured out.

That diseases will break out upon the people, and will fall on everyone without the baptism of the Holy Spirit? But with the Angel or who had charge over these plagues was given orders to touch no one on whom the mark was. Why, how much, kind of teachers have we got to be, brethren, to get the church in order to be in that condition? Immune.  My arms are sore now, from where the doctors has punched needles to try to inoculate me from yellow fever and so forth. I told them I didn't need it. But they wouldn't listen to me. But I'll tell you what God's going to do. God's got a serum, and it's called the Holy Ghost. And when that serum goes in, it'll inoculate you. Hallelujah. In the last days...

And Noah, they come through a long time waiting. And then there appeared an Angel, a prophet, Enoch, and so forth. And supernatural signs was done. And they went in. I want you to notice that the bringing out the children of Israel; it was a long time, hundreds of years; nothing taken place, no supernatural since the death of Joseph, which was a type of Christ. And today, how could people today, when they say we got the best doctors in the world, we got the best clinics we ever had, we got all this, that and the other, why do we need... Listen. Today we need Divine healing worse then we ever needed it. And as the days go on, on and on, so will it be more and more needed. And it'll come to pass after while, that unless a man is sealed with the Holy Ghost, his heart, until he's laid hisself open to all kinds of things. Come not nigh, any of those who has the seal of God in their forehead, when them tremendous plagues begin to fall. We're at the junction, the crossroads now. But here is the great miracle: the miracle was of how God had His believing child tucked away in the ark of safety. All the time the thunder was going on, the rain was falling, Noah was resting in the ark of God, predestinated, foreordained to walk into that ark. When the plagues was falling, Noah was at rest in safety. Who had been laughed at, had then entered into the rest.  Those who they laugh and make fun of today because you desire to live a full surrendered life to the Lord Jesus; they don't realize is you are tucked away under His everlasting arms. Don't realize that you are resting just as safely as you can be in the omnipotence and nothing can harm you  And as he goes down into Egypt, he took his stick, and cast it down, and healed his hand with leprosy, and done those things, then I want you to notice every time the miraculous was done, Satan's always there to counterfeit it. And as he was counterfeiting it that day, he's still the same counterfeiter today. Even his counterfeits only point to the end time at the junction. He had some old soothsayers and--down there by the name of Jambres and Jannes, who stood up and they could throw their rods down, turn them to serpents and so forth and do just like they did. But God vindicated who was God's. They could bring plagues, but they could not perform Divine healing. So God alone can heal. And they could bring a boil, but they couldn't take it away. God stood in His power there to show that real Divine healing was His miraculous to prove the omnipotent at the junction road.  The Egyptians called the boils but they broke out themselves. But God's servant could take them away. Why? They can counterfeit. We're taught in this last days, that there'd be the same thing: "As Jambres and Jannes withstood Moses, so these resist the truth, men of reprobate mind concerning the faith." How that they would do... Heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasure more than God, truce-breakers, incontinent, having a form of godliness. Oh, well, I'll just tell you the day we are living at the junction road, at the end of the road, the end of the age. God's a proving it. What a marvelous day to be living. While we're in prayer, I wonder with your heads bowed... We're at the junction, friend. We're there. All these things, this perversion amongst women and men, this great distress that you see. What is it? I've proved it by the Bible; it's been every time the junction, never before the junction, always at the junction. Just before... See men has got away now; they've got off in theology, and the days of miracles is passed. Do you see they did it in every other age?  But just before the change time, God came down in omnipotence and done the miraculous. That's why people talk about me and say the things they do. That's why they talk about all Christians that believe that. But you see what happened to them back there who believed? They was secured. Abraham was just as safe as he could be (Amen.), so was Moses. No plagues bothered him or Israel. Neither did it bother Noah. Enoch was taken up before it ever happened, stand up on the banisters of glory, watching it go on.  We got the impersonators. We got people pretending to be, when they're not. And the Bible said, "As Jambres and Jannes withstood Moses, so will these men of reprobated mind concerning the truth," in the last days at the junction we're at now  And there stood Jambres and Jannes when Moses threw down and performed a miracle of God. They impersonated it and done a miracle too with their stick. And Moses called for plagues, and they called plagues. It's the devils turned loose.  The Bible said, "That when the spirit... When the enemy comes in like a flood, God will raise up a standard against it."  And when in this day with a lot of impersonation, men acting like Christians, pretending to be and in their heart as black as the smutty walls of hell. There's many a pastoring today that should be out yonder cutting corn or something, be better off.

 

E-66  GOD'S.PROVIDED.WAY  LA.CA  59-0415A   Now, the Scripture, Ephesians 4:40 says this: "Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed until the day of your redemption." How long? Until the day of your redemption. When you receive the Holy Ghost, you come inside, like Israel coming under the blood, they were inside, safely secured, protected from the outside plagues of Egypt that was going to destroy them. Come into Christ now through the Blood, receive the wedding garment.

It's the plagues of God.  The Egyptians' doctors, which was far smarter than ours today, could not stop the plagues of God, neither could their soothsayers or their impersonators. It took Goshen, and the power of God to hold His people, under the blood of a lamb.  The Holy Spirit is that Door today. The Holy Spirit is that Safety today.

Moses called for plagues, and they could call plagues too. But they could not take the plagues away. They couldn't heal, because God is the only Healer. But they could cause plagues to come; then Moses took them away.  And then, the final showdown came where Moses did just as God told him to do. And I know all this that's dividing the world today is finally going to come to one great showdown someday, 'cause the Bible said, "As Jambres and Jannes withstood Moses; so will men with reprobate mind concerning the faith withstand in the last days. But their follies will be made manifest." It's a prophecy that must be fulfilled. And you can see both sides a rising now.

When you go home tonight, do me one favor, don't go to bed till you read Revelations the 8th chapter. You see the oncoming plagues and storms, that shall hit the earth, and thunders and lightnings are going to shake the heavens. Woes are going to pass over the nation. Men will rot in their flesh. Diseases will strike them the doctors knows nothing about.  But remember, before that took place there was a sealing went forth. And the death angels and the plagues was commissioned by God, "Don't come near any of those who has the Seal in their forehead." And the Seal of God is the baptism of the Holy Spirit; Ephesians 4:30 says, "Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed until the day of your redemption." No matter how hard the ark rocked, no matter how many times the lightning struck close to it, "Ten thousand shall fall on your right, and thousands to your left, and it shall come not nigh thee." The Holy Spirit...

You watch for a depression, brother. You think you've seen something; you just wait after while. You haven't seen nothing. You think you're dying for a good spiritual revival; you wait till after a bit. You just wait, long and cry to hear the Word of God. The Bible said so. "There'll be a famine in the last days," said the prophet, "and not for bread and water alone, but for hearing the true Word of God." Then come the trying time, the chastening, sanctifying time, sanctifying yourself from things of the world, "laying aside the weights that does so easily beset you." All those things, you had to sanctify yourself from them by the faith in the Blood of Jesus Christ: sanctifying yourself. You women had to let your hair grow out, lengthen your dresses, and act like different than what you was: sanctifying time. Many times they'd rebel and go back; well, that's not a child of God. See? A child of God looks straight to Calvary and knows that it's for his good.

Then the Gentiles has the plagues poured out upon them, the tribulation.   And how can men, great teachers, teach, and looking at this Bible like this, and say that the Church goes through the tribulation period when there's not a Scripture in the Bible that says it. See, the Sixth Seal, is completely an interruption of nature.

And then when He gets ready to do anything, He separates the believer from the unbeliever.  And notice then how He provided for His promised-land people. Look what He did for His promised-land people there, to be sure that they would not be mixed up in some kind of an ism. What did He do? He sent a prophet to them, Moses, with a message identifying God's Word. And to identify Moses, He sent a Pillar of Fire that hung over him. Amen. Then to give him the perfect assurance, He required a token. Amen. There's a messenger, the message, and the vindication, and the token, the perfect assurance that they had nothing to worry about. No matter how many plagues strike, what everybody else says they are sealed away.

 

 57  ISRAEL.AT.THE.RED.SEA.2  JEFF.IN  IC 65-96  53-0327  Now, we're coming down to the last plague, last thing. God said, "I'm tired fooling now. I'm going to give the last plague." Now, I want you to notice; the last plague was death.  Now, we've had earthquakes; we've had wars and rumors of wars; we've had tidal waves, as Jesus said would be, the sea a-roaring, man's heart failing, more heart trouble (number one disease), fear, perplex of time, distress between the nations, horseless carriages in the broad ways, all these things fulfilled. But the last plague is death, not physically speaking, but spiritually speaking, death, spiritually in the church. You notice it was amongst the sons: spiritual death. The church has got more members than it ever had, thriving better than it ever did, and yet the weakest in spirit that it ever was. That's true. That's just like it was in Egypt.

  Notice. Then God, after fixing Moses, getting him ready, sent out the--the signs, then the last sign we taken last night was death. And we found out, that spiritual death in the church, the last plague now, church drying up, blowing away. That's right. We're living in a horrible time. How that the church, the old-timers that used to really have the victory is losing out, dying time, letting the Blood get off the front of the door. "When I see the Blood I'll pass over you."

Watch, plague after plague after plague, but the last plague fell was death, just before the deliverance.  Notice it. How striking it is today. Jesus said there'll be--perilous times shall come, men's hearts would fail; how He said they'd be distress between the nations, sea a roaring, tidal waves that's never been heard of before, bursting forth in the seas. How that in all these things, signs would be coming to pass. Just like it was in the days of Noah, it would be again. How marvelous.  But remember, the last plague that fell was death. And the last thing... God has give us warning after warning, warning after warning. Now, the last thing that's come is death, spiritual death. The churches are dying spiritually. That's right, friend.

"Yes."  "Well, daddy, what about our home?"   "Son, we're just as safe as we can be."  "How do you know we are safe?"   "We've obeyed God's Word. We got... We're under the blood."  I can hear him say, just a little later, after while, I look out the window, little boy does, look, there comes two big black wings moving through the air. That's death. And if there's any time that the black wings is struck the country today, we've had earthquakes; we've had pestilence; we've had all kinds of things that could come to this land, and all like they did in Egypt. But the last plague that hit Egypt before destruction was death. And the last plague that's hit the church is a spiritual death. Right. That's the last thing.

 

 37  Redemption by Power  54-0329  Then at the last plague that struck the earth there, or struck Egypt, was death. All you Bible readers here know your Sunday school lessons and so forth, has taken this, perhaps, many times. But death was the last enemy that struck Egypt.  And the last enemy that's going to strike the church now is death, spiritually speaking. Those who will not follow Christ in--in baptism of the Holy Spirit, will spiritually dry up and die; the churches, you can see it now. After many, many great revivals and evangelists has passed through the land, and yet the church is, that is, politically-church speaking, is getting worse all the time. Its members are just living any way they want to, doing anything they want to, yet, calling themself Christians, and say they're all right.   To be a Christian, means to be "Christ-like." Go no place you wouldn't want to be if Christ would come. Say nothing you wouldn't want to be saying when Christ comes, doing nothing that you wouldn't want to be doing when Christ comes. Think nothing you wouldn't want to be thinking when Christ comes. Keep your one motive, your heart centered on Calvary. Amen. "Walk in the Light, as He is in the Light, and we have fellowship one with another; the Blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleanses us from all unrighteousness."

 

   87-4  Hebrews chptr 3 57-0901M There's no more Gospel that America will receive. Oh, you get a few stragglings now and then; but just as the Gospel, it's over. And you can't even preach to them, can't talk to them. They won't believe nothing. See? They just got their own hardheaded ideas, and they're set, and the next thing's for this nation is judgment. She's going to have it too. It may be through depression; it may be through an atomic bomb; it may be through a great plague, a disease or something; but she's ready. It's a-coming; thousands times thousands will fall.

"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." "Not discerning the Lord's Body, many are weakly and sick. Many are asleep," dead, spiritually dead. The last plague that hit Egypt was death. The last plague that's hit the church is spiritual death. What we need today is a spiritual awakening, a spiritual awakening to discernment.

What's the last plague's hit the Pentecostal church? Spiritual death. It's going right on back like the rest of the world: spiritual death. But the circumcised with the blood on the door took the homeward march (That's exactly.) with a Pillar of Fire going before them to lead them away.

Every time a Seal opened, a plague pours out and a destruction comes. And watch what takes place right now at the end.

And then, after that is over, then he goes on, and they denominate, and bring in denominations, and start off with that man's work like of--of Wesley and all the rest of them, and then it gets all in a scrapple again; and then another mystery comes forth. Then what happens? Another messenger arrives on earth for a church age. See?  Then when he arrives, he--the--the trumpet sounds. He declares war. See? And then what happens? Finally then he's caught away. And then when he's laid away, then plague falls destroys them. Spiritual death hits the church and she's gone, that group. Then He goes on to another one.

  Oh, it's a great plan until it comes to that last angel. Now, he has no certain mystery, but he gathers up all that's been lost in them other ages, all the truths that wasn't truly revealed yet (See?), as the revelation come. Then he reveals those things in his day. If you want to read it, there it is: A Revelations 10:1 to--1 to about 4. You'll get it. All right. See?

It's spiritual death; she's dead. That's in the Name of the Lord. She's spiritually dead. He gave her place to repent, and she rejected it; now she's dead. She'll never rise again.

You don't want that dress that hangs loose. You want that one's like you're poured into it, because that you seen Susie on the television and the radio and in the magazine.

 

  The devil putting all that stuff around, young kids, drinking beer, Ortel's Ninety-Two, and Schlitz and this kind of stuff, it's... That's a lie. And nothing but... That turns young men and women to batty-eyed wretches to drink that stuff. It's the devil. It fills the insane institution. It fills the prostitute houses. It does everything else. It breaks up homes. It causes rape and murder and everything else.  And cigarettes poisons the mind, causes cancer. And the Medical Association even decent enough to place it out, and you continually smoke that devil's weed. I don't know what I'm saying it for; that don't sound like me, but I--I--I'm going to say it anyhow as long as it's coming out like that. Just... That's right. It's wrong; get away from it. Christians, get filled with God. Yes, sir.

They'll scream and holler: great hideous things in their imaginary mind... The radios and things, or television programs are producing it. There'll be such things as ants raise up on the earth that'll be as high as fourteen trees. There'll be... A bird will fly across the earth with wings four or five miles across, and people seeing them; they'll scream and holler and cry for mercy; but it'll be the plague. Wait till I preach on those plagues opening up.

 

  E-39  Way To Have Fellowship 55-1009   Now, every person thinks of their children. While they're under your--your wings you can watch them. But once out from under the wings, then the Devil's got every little old Oscar he can out there to associate with your children that's infidelic, and mean, and devilish, and everything else. God help us. This juvenile delinquency here in New York, Chicago, and these big cities, what the papers is writing up, how they kill one another and everything... Little children, little boys and girls killing and murder, and shooting, and so forth like that. If those poor little kiddies only realized that that's the Devil, sure.

Let the teacher say something about it; he'll get killed; they'll form a little cluck and go out there and shoot the teacher, take him out and string him up. We lost two thousand teachers. Oh, wait a minute, I believe, twenty thousand teachers, this last year. I don't blame them. I wouldn't want to do it either. Now, they got signs up every time, "Give college education to these kids." They do need it, but the Devil's got them. The Devil's got them. And it's not only just normal to go out and be mean and--and--and take a gate off and hang it up in a tree on Halloween night, or do some little meanness like kids used to do, or take a farmer's buggy and set it out in the road, not like that; but they're insane. They do things that's insanity; shoot you, kill you, and murder you, poison you, anything. That's the next generation.

I ought to pay taxes on all that..."  I said, "How do you think that?" I said, "It went through my church, and paid for these meetings."  Said, "Oh, it was yours before it was the church." And they was going to arrest me for it.  And I said, "I want to ask something, in the name of all decency." I said, "You put on these programs at night. I've spent thirty-two years of my life across the nation, around the world, trying to make it a better place to live in, trying to break up crooks, and make them honest men, try to take children from the cradle size, and put them in the church, and a thing for right. I spent my life, on earth, to try to do that. And the money that I've used out there, you're trying to tell me that I owe it." And I said, "Then you'll let all this old, nasty vulgar programs come one, of television, and that whiskey company, and tobacco companies, which is killing the nation, and making rape, murder, and everything else, juvenile delinquency that's tearing your nation to pieces, and they write it off as advertisement." I said, "What have we got left?"

We have many other foundations, but Christ is the only eternal Foundation. Everything else will fall except Christ.  You might build your foundation upon riches. You might have plenty of money, and leave plenty of money for your children. What will it cause? What does riches lead to: heartaches, disappointments, fusses, disagreements, falling out, shooting, rape, murder, and finally sometimes to suicide. Money... The banks can go broke, close up, or something happen that you--in a gamble you lose your money, then take a gun and blow your head off. See? That foundation is not eternal. Your money doesn't have an eternal foundation.  You cannot have an eternal foundation upon popularity. That's the great sin of America, is trying to be popular, women trying to dress popular, men trying to act popular. All these little things going on, the ways it's taking place, I don't have to start on that the first night. But I didn't say the third night...?... We'll coast on that tonight. But being popular, popularity usually leads to sin and disgrace (Certainly it does.), three or four marriages and all kinds of stuff. And it has no eternal foundation.

That's what civilization does to them. When this country here used to be beautiful, the Indian lived here by himself, he had very little sin, little tribal war. But when the white man come, what did he bring? Women, whiskey, killing, murder. Look where it's at now. See? Civilization brings sin, always. When man begin to multiply upon the face of the earth, violence set in and God destroyed the world.

I believe it was Billy Graham said in his last meeting, "In ten years from now every citizen of California will have to pack a gun to protect themself. You can't put enough law enforcement." The people's just gone insane. Shooting, and murder, and rapes, everything (See?), it's just gone wild (See?) upon the streets. See, it's a--it's a day we're living in, a Sodomite day. See? But there is a Light shining if they'd only look, if they'd only see--look into the Word and see what's supposed to be in this hour, they would know what's trying to be done.  Now, they claim they're worshipping that Light. So did they claim they was worshipping that Light. But they were worshipping It in a glare of another light instead of the real. See? He was the Light.

But the Bible says, "Don't you come near any of those who has the Seal of God in their forehead."  And the Seal of God is the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Now, you advent brothers, I don't want to disagree with you on being a seventh day; there's no Scripture for that. But the Bible Ephesians 4:30 says, "Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God whereby you're sealed till the day of your redemption."

When you go home tonight, do me one favor, don't go to bed till you read Revelations the 8th chapter. You see the oncoming plagues and storms, that shall hit the earth, and thunders and lightnings are going to shake the heavens. Woes are going to pass over the nation. Men will rot in their flesh. Diseases will strike them the doctors knows nothing about.  But remember, before that took place there was a sealing went forth. And the death angels and the plagues was commissioned by God, "Don't come near any of those who has the Seal in their forehead." And the Seal of God is the baptism of the Holy Spirit; Ephesians 4:30 says, "Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed until the day of your redemption." No matter how hard the ark rocked, no matter how many times the lightning struck close to it, "Ten thousand shall fall on your right, and thousands to your left, and it shall come not nigh thee." The Holy Spirit...

Atomic bombs are laying in hangers, hydrogen bombs, sickness and diseases, germ warfare... O God, and everything the way it is, knowing that the Bible said that man would actually rot in their flesh... But that Angel was given commission, "Don't you touch any of those! Don't you come near those who has the wine and the oil. Don't touch those who has the seal of God upon their forehead."  And we realize that the baptism of the Holy Ghost is the seal of God. For it is written in Ephesians 4:30 "Grieve not the holy Spirit of God whereby you're sealed until the day of your redemption." Lord God, seal this church tonight. Those who are wanting the seal of the Holy Spirit, kiss away every fear, Lord, and seal them with Thy Seal of the Spirit in their hearts, that they'll come forth as newborn babes, crying, "Abba, Father". Grant it, Lord. I commit them to Thee in the Name of Jesus, Thy Son.
